RE: Great Article On foxsports.com (Notre Dame)

Born and raised in South Bend I am a true Irish fan, however, I must agree, this guy is a joke. He wonders the sidelines as if he has no idea where he is or what is going on. I watch other teams on their sidelines and I see the defense huddled around the defensive coach, I see the offense huddled around the offensive coach, I see the head coach talking to his players, I see the players talking amongst themselves and I see enthusiasm. I watch the ND sidelines and see nothing but a bunch of uninterested players sitting around on the bench devoid of any coaching. Send this guy back to New England and spend this money on someone like Skip Holtz, we never should have let him get away.

RE: service in Las Vegas

Have not been by there lately but the story I heard, was that they were getting out of the MH sales and were going to deal only in TT and 5er's. Only what I heard, don't have any facts on it. Referring to Findlay RV.

RE: If you could have one vehicle back what would it be?

Has to be my 1969 Corvette, convertible, 350 ci, 4 speed, all leather, black, with side exhaust. Had to let her go because I became a father. Bummer. :(

RE: Motorhome Vandalized

Mike, so sorry for your losses. This last Friday our coach was also broken into at our storage lot. Fenced and gated with surveilance cameras. Three cameras were disabled, manager said one other coach was also broken into. Strange thing was, that they ransacked our coach but thankfully no damage. They did get our rear 19" television after taking the time to remove the front frame, take out the mounting bracket and remove the TV from the bracket (no damage). Once we got into the coach and looked around we did find several bags in the shower. There we found our two DVD players, our flashlights, and our binoculars. We also found one pair of DW's shorts, one of her sweatsuits, and some air fresheners from the bathroom. The rest of our clothes were still in the wardrobe. Although every drawer and cabinet was opened and emptied out the only other thing we have missing is a small spice rack that I had made (value $0), and another pair of binoculars ($20). Even stranger, along with our stuff in the bags we found another DVD player, an in dash stereo, a scanner/copier, many electronics connectors, and several bags of clothing and toiletries. The manager of the lot said that only one other coach was broken into and that the owner said nothing was missing. We returned to the facilty after removing our coach and walked around and found a broken window in a 5er, and the vent window of the semi-tractor parked next to us appeared to have been pryed open and the frame was severally scratched and the drivers door was unlocked, yet the manager stated that he had contacted all the tenants and none of them claimed to have been burglarized or reported anything missing. We left a phone number just in case anyone is missing what we now have. DW had to go to police station to file a report and no officer responded to the area to investigate. Sure does give you a sense of security. Coach is now located at a new storage area.
Hope you get better results and the insurance brings you back up to par. Good luck and happy camping.

Big Bear Lake

Thinking about going up to Big Bear lake the end of Sept. We went up there a few years back with our "C" and took 247 out of Barstow but I sure don't think the "A" will make the climb on the route we took. I believe someone once posted about going in on 18 from around San Bernardino. We are leaving from Las Vegas. Any suggestions on best route from here? Thanks.

RE: Need a New York City hotel recommendation.....

Soyboy...
When researching hotel accommodations DW will check all the travel sites (Orbitz, etc.) and then will go to the individual hotel websites, often times they will have special discount rates not advertised. We also had the luxury of booking six months in advance. She also recommends www.tripadvisor.com. Last November she took the 3 DDs and grandkids to NYC and stayed at the Affina50 in a large suite. She said it is very nice and is currently available starting around $337 per night. www.affina50.com
Good luck.

RE: Need a New York City hotel recommendation.....

We were in Manhattan for Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping two years ago. DW knows how to find a bargain, we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for a little over $200 per night. DW did make reservations in May for the November visit and like I said, she knows how to find a bargain. Good Luck.

RE: Heed the signs..humor

Probably the same reason most seemingly pointless signs are posted.
If the sign wasn't there and someone hit a train, there would be a lawsuit because the city or railway or some one failed to advise people not to drive into trains. A lot like spilling hot coffee on your crotch and then suing Mc D's for not telling you the coffee was hot. You can't fix stupid! :S:S

Local casino business is still thriving. As sorry as it may be, it seems that the slower the economy gets, the better the casino business gets. A temporary escape from the pressures of the day perhaps.

RE: My Remodel

FEDowner....the cupholder console came with the coach when we bought it....don't know if it is original equipment or not but it is really nice. The tray below the cupholders slides out about 14 inches. I keep an organizer basket on it to hold my neccessities (i-pod, snacks, shades, note pad, etc.). I don't think it would be hard to make one if you are a little handy with woodworking. I've done harder work.

RE: Persuading Wife To Try Driving MH

DW drove our 28 ft class C from Vegas to Minneapolis by herself ( I think the biggest car she ever drove was a Chevy Cavalier) and was quite comfortable with it. However, she is terrified of our 37 ft class A. She had stated that she wanted to try it so while traveling on 287 in Texas complete with toad I pulled over to the side of the road and she asked me what I was doing, I said it's your turn. She turned pale, but got behind the wheel and checked and adjusted everything and off we went. Maxed out at about 50 MPH and tended to hug the side of the road. Had a few trucks pass us and that terrified her, but she basically did fine until the raindrops started to fall and she was done for the day. Probably got about 30 minutes of windshield time and did pretty good. I am sure she will refuse to drive in city or congested traffic for quite some time but I am confident that in case of emergency or other circumstances she could handle it. I love to drive and I do not push her to get behind the wheel, and put undue pressure on her, and possibly endanger us or other people. I will let her progress at her own pace and I am sure she will become more and more confident in her ability to handle the A.

RE: My Remodel

NAUTIQUE...The flooring is Pergo "C'mon In" hardwood, style PHW 03 87001 Ginger. It may be closed out now. I found it at Lowes but the one store had only three boxes at $1.67 sq ft. Another Lowes had about 40 boxes but it was not discounted but they did reduce it to $2.00 sg ft.
JOMO....did the dyeing as recommended on this forum. I used a two gallon pump spray bottle and added three packages of RIT dye to each two gallons (I went from a medium gold colored carpet to the cocoa brown color). Brushed all the nap in one direction, soaked the carpet really good, worked it in with a medium stiff brush, brushed nap the opposite direction, reapplied the dye and DW worked it in with her hands (with gloves), let it dry overnight and vacuumed. We do pick up a little color if we walk on it with wet feet but plan to shampoo it soon and that should remove the excess residue.

RE: My Remodel

Nautique,
I used a local upholstery guy recommended by our local Monaco dealer. The material is called Magnificent Faux-Leather, Buff. The complete job of the two captains chairs and dinette required 15 yds of material. Total cost for material, labor and tax was $1487.
